KARAOKE WORLD CHAMPIONS team USA

Kid's Karaoke Contest Divisions

Kid's Karaoke Contest Portion of KWCUSA is currently on hold due to lack of interest. We may resume this in the future and have left this page up so that folks can see what a good time we all had in 2006 even with such a small turnout. If you would like to make a MAJOR contribution to sponsor the contest for our younger (under 21) singers, please contact Frank davies at (360) 357-5465.

Miss Mishawn volunteered to be our National Hostess for KWCUSA's Kid's Karaoke Contest Finals. She is joined here at 2005 Nationals by her step sister Shiloh who volunteered to help as a KJ.

This first karaoke festival was small and intimate, and a great way for everone involved to learn, and discuss the future of the event. It has already been decided that the event shall repeat each year, and that the scope shall increase to include live performances and educational seminars (a vocal workshop, copyright seminar, and Multi-Track Audio seminar are in the works) along with the (now) traditional open mic. The highlight and central focus shall be on our National Finals.

KWCUSA proudly presents the annual Kid's Karaoke Kampout!

Friday Aug. 4 through Sunday Aug. 6 2006.

KWCUSA Kid's Karaoke Contest National Finals

At the Karaoke Kampout, the KWCUSA Children's (6-11) and Junior's (12-15) Divisions Karaoke Contest National Finals event will take place. (Donations of non-perishable (canned) food for Northwest Harvest are requested of all attending.)

Wild-card entries are allowed this (2006) season, but this is subject to change on a state by state basis. Wild-card entry will be closed to singers from States or territory have one or more active KWCUSA Kid's Karaoke Contest Division Hosts.

KWCUSA would like to see one boy and one girl from each division in every state advance to nationals. (Aprox. 200 total singers in all.)

An entry fee of $20 is charged by KWCUSA. This is paid to the host of the event first entered. It may be sponsored in some cases (by a Pre-Trials Sponsor), and in other cases, there may be additionl fees charged by the local or state hosts.

All transportation, food and lodging costs are the responsibility of the parents or guardians. (State hosts will be encourgaged to seek sponsors or otherwise aid in this. Contact them directly for more information regarding any prizes or travel assistance. New hosts may require a season or more to resolve this, or provide prizes.)

At Nationals, trophies will be awarded to 12 singers. (first second and third place boys and girls, from both divisions. ...This is our gift, from us at KWCUSA to the singers.)

Awards will also come from half of the total entry fees recieved. If the total amount is large enough, then the top 12 singers will each recieve a GET Account. (Currently, these accounts cost $50 for set-up, and then are increased in multiples of $65, which represents one college tuition unit.) KWCUSA will do it's best to make these roughly even awards for the twelve singers, with slight preference for placement. Checks may also be awarded if required to in order to use the availbe total amount in the prize fund. If the prize fund is not large enough to create GET accounts with a minimum of one credit then checks will be issued instead with all 12 finalists recieving the same amount. (No preferance for first secound and third place.)

It is planned that an award ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday August 6, 2006.

Other Activities

The grounds provide ample room for the kid's to hike around on. Dotted with interesting art works there also areas for the kid's to participate; on whimsical musical instruments, or painting.
There will be karaoke and an open mic, not just for the kids, but for everyone who wishes to step up and sing or play an instrument. The tewelve hours from 10 a.m. till 10 p.m. may be followed by some un-plugged performances into the wee hours of the next morning.
This year will also feature at least one lecture. Tim Prellwitz will present a lecture on what he calls super karaoke... "MTA: (Multi-Track Audio) Taking Karaoke To the Next Step". All are invited to attend without charge. This will take place in the Gallery Building. Tim's lecture may be of great interest to musicians of any age or experience.
While our event includes kid's, we have not forgotten the adults either. Above the main grounds on the top of the small hillside is an outdoor patio area with tables and chairs and a fountain we will reserve just for the adults. (Smoking and drinking will be confined to this area, ...or personal vehicles.)

KWCUSA Children's Division (6-11)

Those aged 6 through 11 may compete in KWCUSA's Children's Division.

KWCUSA Juniors Division (12-15)

Those aged 12 through 15 may compete in KWCUSA's Junior's Division.

We noticed that in Finland, there are children's and junior's divisions within their country, and so we have added these divisions in the United States as well. Note that Finland has not yet made this an international contest, so our finalists will not be expected to travel to or compete in Finland for a world finals, ...this is USA only at the moment. Please contact us directly by email if interested in helping or hosting. As of now we are extending contests where possible to include our younger community of karaoke singers too!

At the national level, Miss Marcella (your USA Nationals Hostess) is VERY interested in including singers under the age of sixteen as part of her KWCUSA events. She will hold a USA Finals Event for the Children's and Junior Divisions in combination with a "Kid's Kid's Karaoke Kampout". Below, are a few thoughts relating to all of this. If you wish to participate in a major way, perhaps as a national sponsor or regional host, you are also invited to contact Miss Marcella at: karaokemissmarcella@yahoo.com

Our thoughts on Children's and Junior's Divisions

There is currently no thought to extend this internationally, ...we will continue to follow KWC's lead on this, and if circumstances allow extend our invitation to other nations for a world finals should Finland decide not to host the kid's divisions' world finals sometime in the future.

We do not yet need to build a travel fund, as our KWCUSA Children's and Junior's Divisional Finalists will not need to go to Finland. So KWCUSA will instead we will award our finalists GET accounts. (GET stands for Guaranteed Education Tuition and is a nation-wide government run program. Here is a link to the Washington State resource on the subject for reference and more information. www.get.wa.gov. The GET program is similar to a scholarship only much better as it can be increased by the parents over the years like a savings account and is extremely transferable from one school to another. It is based upon CREDITS and guaranteed by the government so the student can rest assured that the funds will provide the expected help when needed. Fifty percent of the KWCUSA kid's entry fees will be used for the awards, just as in the adult division, except not for travel, but for their college education.

Parents or guardians need to take part with their children. Neither KWCUSA nor our hosts should be expected to assume the role of a guardian, so it is expected that parents will accompany their children closely at all events, and assume full responsibility for their well being.

It seems a natural means of holding events would be through the schools. If you are in charge of such things especially on a state wide level, contact us.

Transportation may be a serious problem as young contestants will be accompanied by family members. So, emphasis may need to be placed on finalists at the state level. An award, such as a trophy or plaque should be given at the state level.

Timilen Company is currently working on trophies for KWCUSA. These trophies may be made in several variations of glaze (they are porcelain) to represent the different places or divisions, or regions, or states, or may be customized to fit the event.

It may be possible for Tim to make them to match school colors, or state colors, or other colors to add distinction. (Metallic colors like gold or other cool specialty glazes can increase the costs, but most basic colors will not. Gold is the most expensive as it is expected to raise the cost of a single trophy pair (male and female) by $50 to $100 or more.)

Our plans to expand the USA finals contest into an exhibition and convention blends well with the additional divisions. So our not too distant goals are forming to include an all day or multiple day event featuring wild card divisional tournaments (Children's, Junior's, and Adult's) followed by the National finals.

Community involvement is welcome! Print out a copy of this page and discuss it with your community leaders. We would welcome towns or cities wishing to participate. Simply making your town's or city's various community centers or theaters or gymnasiums etc. available would be a great help, ...and would also make your town or city an official sponsor! Finland leads the way in this too, and KWCUSA would like to see America match this great example of community fun.

School teachers who are interested in this are encouraged to first discuss it at the district and state levels with others. As with all of our regular KWCUSA hosts, your school would ordinarily volunteer to host an additional event following your tournament. However, there may already exist an infrastructure within you state's school system which could be used to eliminate this requirement of individual hosts. In essence, your many individual schools would be treated as a single host, and your finalists invited directly to State Finals.

Regarding the Children's and Junior's Divisions, any major sponsorship would allow us to proceed to the next step (establishing who will be the state and regional finals events hosts for these divisions.)

One more thing. Any host or sponsor already involved with KWCUSA who is interested in extending their help to include America's children is urged to let us know and participate actively in forming the plan. If you have some ideas or thoughts which might make this work, contact us.

Jon Sinclair has sponsor an award of his complete training program for the full voice to our past KWCUSA National Finalists. This double CD includes:- "A live vocal lesson" plus a "Complete vocal training program" with Hollywood's"Top Vocal Coach", British Vocal Consultant "Jon Dunmore Sinclair".

Jon also awards a live (or internet) vocal consultation to our top finalists.

Visit His site at SingClear.com if you are looking for a top of the line vocal coach.

In addition, Jon is able to consult with anyone directly through the internet!

We have asked Jon to hold his famous workshop at next year's campout. He told us to pencil him in! Contact Jon if you are interested in participating in his workshops which may be held during our 2006 campout.
