Timothy DUFF Morrison
PERSONAL INFORMATION
KWCUSA 2005 2nd Place Finalist
Age: 37
Profession: Medical Resorative Care Consultant
Hobbies: Singing, song writing, playing guitar, basketball, traveling
When did you start singing?
I've been singing/performing since 7 yrs old in my
church's childrens choir. First solo outside of church, in front of more
than 100 people, at age 8.
Who/what got you interested in karaoke/KWC event?
Steve Pennington KWCUSA Region 6 Finals Host and personal friend. My girlfriend and
I had already taken USA's Memorial Day weekend off from work because it
is our anniversary date. So when Steve told us the USA National contest
would be held in Seattle Washington I asked her if she would like to go
there for our anniversary and of course she said YES. I needed some
studio time also which was part of winning Region 6 the southern USA
region. Well since I won we went and met some of the coolest people we
have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We really felt at home there. I
can only hope to find the same generosity of karaoke friends in Finland.
Your idol singer, performer etc. Why this person?
Growing up my mother was a huge Elvis Presley fan and so I heard
and tried to imitate him. My father is from Memphis and my uncle 'Gene
built the wall around Elvis' home at Graceland. So I've always felt some
type of connection with Elvis. His generosity to his fans and his humble
attitude with a religious foundation is also impressive to me. When I
was in high school Purple Rain was my first concert to go to without my
parents and from then on I have also been a big Prince fan. Why?
Because of his musical genius and incredible entertaining abilities.
Prince's range is unbelievable and something I have tried very hard to
master.
To be perfectly
honest I enjoy ALL types of music. From classical to heavy metal. When
singing I prefer ballads with inspirational meanings. I can always find
something in a song of a different type, different than what I normally
listen to, that I admire or appreciate. I feel if you truly LOVE music
you can enjoy at least something from any category there is to pick
from.

"Duff" has written to KWCUSA and reports in his own words..."Finland was awesome."
I learned that a patron of the establishment known as "Bubba's" principly sponsored his trip and that
"Bubba's" also chipped in to help, and that "Duff" stayed with a family in Heinola. I'd like to thank them on behalf of everyone, because "Duff" went on to place the highest amoung our American team members.
"Duff" was right in there singing through the final round of just five singers, and judged to be fourth in the world at KWC 2005. Very cool indeed! "Duff" wrote that there were "sooooo many good singers!" ...And wants do go again.
The ran quite a story in the paper over in Finland on "Duff" and he had fans in the audience holding signs of support whith his name on them and cheering him on. The family he stayed with very much enjoyed his compnny and have invited to return. Of the accomodations "Duff" wrote... "I stayed with a host family that was super cool."
"Duff" mentioned that the best female vocalist (Rachel from Ireland) sang alot of Celine Deon and Whitney Houston. While best male (Iyad Sfeir from Lebanon) sang cocaine, and its a wonderful world. He also said; "I personally thought Danny from Ireland had a great chance of winning but he came in second." and that the third place male finalist (Ari Koivunen of Finland) sang heavymetal songs.
He went on to say that he would love it if we all made it there for as big support of USA team like Australia, Ireland, and Lebanon did, and said it was like a karoke-olympics at KWC 2005
I hope you all get a chance to thank Timothy "Duff" Morrison on his outstanding performance!

Timothy has also been interviewed by the Birmingham Post-Herald.
It also looks like Duff may be headed to Thailand soon to sing in a concert being hosted by Jack, who runs KWC in Thailand. This is being planed as a benefit concert to aid the tsunami victims. The princess of Thailand lost her son in the tsunami and the concert is to have her as a guest of honor. She may be singing with the worlds finest karaoke singers.
